Glasgow Life is a charity like no other. Our vision is to improve the lives of everyone in our city. To help us achieve that, we are looking for a Sport Commercial and Service Development Manager to join our Sport and Physical Activity Service.

Our teams focus on making a real difference through culture and sport in Glasgow. If you’re excited by the idea of being part of that, this could be the job for you.

What you need to know

Who can apply: This vacancy is open to current Glasgow Life colleagues only.

Hours: 35 per week.

Contract type: Fixed Term until 28 February 2027

Location: Hybrid. You will spend part of your week at home, and part of your week in one of our offices.

What you’ll dotrong>

As a Sport Commercial and Service Development Manager, you’ll be a part of an established team, reporting to the Head of Sport and Physical Activity. You’ll play an essential lead role in the strategic commercial and service development activity, driving income growth, customer-focused performance, digital improvement, membership development and sustainable investment in sport facilities and services. This role requires strong commercial acumen, experience of senior-level leadership, the ability to balance income generation with social impact and health inequality priorities, and a proven track record of delivering projects, analysing data, influencing stakeholders and leading teams through change.

Your work will make a visible and lasting difference. This could be:

  • Supporting our communities
  • Helping people get active
  • Creating cultural experiences
  • Or working behind the scenes to make it all happen

Who you are

We’re looking for someone with the right skills who brings energy to the role. If the following sounds like you, apply today!

We’re looking for:

  • Significant experience of leading and delivering at a senior level within public sector.
  • Skilled at balancing social impact and the health inequality challenges with the need to apply commercially focussed growth and pricing principles.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and business judgment with a track record of delivering against medium and long-term objectives for growth.
  • Proven track record in applying commercial awareness and principles to the “not for profit” sector.
  • Experienced in successfully delivering projects that are within budget, on time and delivered to quality standards.
  • Experience of producing and presenting high quality reports for diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including board and funders.
  • Demonstratable record of gathering and analysing data to support problem solving and developing innovative solutions.
