Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for an Arborist to join our Greenspace and Biodiversity team on a permanent basis.

NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

Position Details

Working within our Arboriculture team, you will inspect and maintain trees within parks, open spaces, roadsides, schools, cemeteries, crematoria and other GGC properties and facilities grounds.

As part of a squad, you will attend and address tree related work and issues such as tree removal/felling, sectional felling, crosscutting, chipping, stump grinding and site clearance. In addition, you will be expected to undertake routine maintenance of tools and equipment to the appropriate standard and complete records as laid down by GCC procedures.

A full, current, manual driving licence, current First Aid certificate, a Chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting certificate (CS30 or LANTw19 & 22), and a Felling and processing tress up to 380mm diameter certificate (CS31 or LANTw20) are essential requirements of the role.

You must also have arboriculture knowledge, be fit to operate a chainsaw and understand Health & Safety Management Standards and external Industry Practices and Procedures (FISA & AFAG).

An LGV Licence, other CS/LANTRA qualifications, pesticide certification and tractor operations qualifications are desirable.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: an average of 37 hours per week

Work Pattern: a 4 on, 4 off rota including weekend working is in operation, and you will also be expected to take part in the Arbor Emergency Standby Rota to work out of hours and in difficult environmental conditions.

Annual Salary: £27,647.92 - £29,754.33 on an incremental scale

Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts annual payments of £2,173 for non-standard work pattern/hours (NSWPH) & £1,856 for working context & demand (WCD).
