Job Description
Glasgow City Planning are a close-knit team of committed planners, architects, specialist officers and technicians who offer a supportive work environment.
The service offers exciting opportunities to work on a range of projects including the development of a new City Development Plan, spatial planning projects and award-winning partnerships, significant planning applications across the city and specialist areas focusing on the rich built heritage of the city, open spaces, climate adaption and urban design.
Located within the Heritage, Design and Landscape Team, this post is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to influence the delivery of high-quality developments across the City.
You will provide best practice architectural and urban design advice throughout the Planning process including assessment of development proposals, emerging Policy guidance and contribute to regeneration & placemaking initiatives across the City.
The post directly supports the statutory delivery of the Development Management Planning service through Pre-Application and Development Management casework, provision of detailed specialist advice to a range of stakeholders, input to Public Realm and Open Space Projects and the ongoing management of the Glasgow Urban Design Panel.
You will have a degree or equivalent qualification Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline, and professional experience that encompasses the candidate profile and skills set out here.
You will also have previous experience and working knowledge of the Design aspects of the Planning system including skills/experience of working with a range of stakeholders, multi-disciplinary professional teams and statutory bodies, members of the local community and their representatives to balance competing demands and expectations.
RIAS Membership and/or RTPI, and/or Membership of the Institute of Historic Buildings Conservation (IHBC), or RIAS Conservation Accreditation desirable together with excellent communication and digital skills.
