Job Description

Glasgow City Council is currently seeking applications for its Graduate Apprentice Programme in Early Learning and Childcare.
 
This pathway into the Early Learning and Childcare sector allows the successful candidates the opportunity to join our early years team and work towards a BA in Early Learning and Childcare, and practitioner status within 3 years. This will be achieved through a combination of experiential learning within an early years setting 4 days per week, whilst attending university 1 day per week for academic studies.
 
To be eligible for the programme you must have passes in at least 5 subjects including at least 3 Scottish Highers (Grade C or above) one of which must be English/ESOL, or a Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services (Children and Young People) along with an additional Higher which must be English/ESOL (at Grade C or above), or be a career changer with a degree or 1 year sector specific work experience at a level equivalent to the point of entry. Alternative entry qualifications/experience may be considered.
 
Upon completion of the Graduate Apprentice Programme, Graduates will be consolidated into a permanent Child Development Officer.  
 
This position requires membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
 
Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
 
University induction will be held on Friday, 13th September with placement in establishment commencing on Monday, 16th September. 
 
This post is temporary for a period up to 3 years in line with the Graduate Apprentice Training Programme.
