Job Description
Glasgow City Region is entering an exciting new chapter, with legislation, committed to in the next Parliamentary term, paving the way for greater powers and funding through a devolution deal. The Glasgow City Region Programme Management Office is recruiting a new senior management post, Group Manager - Skills, to lead the charge in shaping the region’s skills strategy, working closely with government and partners to drive economic growth and empower local decision-making.
The Group Manager - Skills will act as a strategic bridge between regional economic priorities and the established skills eco-system, working with the eight local authorities, government, agencies, schools, colleges, universities, training providers and employers, to design interventions that better address skills gaps and unlock sectorial opportunities.
The individual will have significant experience of partnership and stakeholder management at a senior level, ideally across the public and private sector. They will have an understanding of regional skills supply and demand and how to develop interventions with partners to address and exploit these key sectoral opportunities. The ability to collaborate and innovate will be key to driving impactful change.
Glasgow City Region has secured significant, multi-annual investment for the development and delivery of a number of innovation skills programmes, with a focus on established high growth sectors such as; Advanced Manufacturing, Health and Life Sciences, Maritime and Engineering. The role will initially focus on developing and delivering these programmes and ensuring they meet the needs of industry while laying the foundation for future skills devolution.
