Job Description

Glasgow City Council is seeking an exceptional and talented individual to take on the role of Head of Governance, Performance and Business Support. Reporting directly to the Divisional Director of Finance and Transformation, the successful candidate will have a relevant business degree and/or extensive business experience coupled with a proven track record of leading governance and performance management across a complex, diverse and large-scale operational service.

You will have a strong passion for the pursuit of service improvement underpinned by an effective and supportive governance and performance frameworks that encourage stakeholders to work effectively together and to find new solutions to deliver and develop services is essential.

As an excellent communicator, the postholder will be at the forefront of supporting the transformation agenda across Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability (NRS). It is an exciting opportunity to work in a multi-disciplined operational service, with over 3000 employees, delivering refuse collection, parks, roads, transport, parking, planning and property services. The role will provide leadership and ensure alignment, integration and prioritisation of project implementations whilst maintaining business continuity through effective management of governance, risk, health and safety and performance, implementing data solutions to enable managers to deliver effective evidence-based decision making to improve efficiency.

Under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, this post is politically restricted.
