Job Description

You will be part of an operational team responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Glasgow’s infrastructure. You will have good communication skills, knowledge of Health and Safety, the ability to deal with the public and see tasks through to completion.
The Blacksmith Inspector will monitor operations, within budget, to the required standards.
The blacksmith inspector is responsible for the inspection of Parks play equipment and reporting of defects in a timely manner to ensure H&S compliance and in accordance with statutory obligations to maintain safe Play Areas.
Duties include:
• Carry out inspections with regards to technical and safety of all play equipment throughout the city. All play areas should be inspected regularly to BS-EN1176 Part 7.
• Record and action all details, as required on electronic systems
• Carry out/organise minor running repairs, as required
• Support the Blacksmith Supervisor as required in maintenance programmes of works and monitor, supervise etc.
• Pre-RoSPA inspections of new sites before adoption by Parks Client (GCC) to ensure H&S Compliance.
• Knowledge of appropriate legislation; Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974), Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999)
Essential Qualifications:
• Current RoSPA accreditation and certification,
• A working knowledge of blacksmiths works and play equipment
• Competent computer skills
• A current driving licence
• previous experience in inspection maintenance procedures and standards
Desirable:
• A formal qualification to SVQ level 3
