Job Description

Scotland’s largest planning authority seeks a motivated and versatile Planner to join our Development Plan Group at an exciting time in the ongoing regeneration and transformation of Glasgow. A core part of the Planning Service is to deliver an up to date development plan to set out the city’s spatial strategy, ensure enough land is allocated in order to deal with the recently declared housing emergency and support the Council’s Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP), provide for Clyde Metro and support Clyde Mission as National Development set out in National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4). It will also look to protect and enhance the built and natural environment and align with the Council’s other key strategies such as the Climate Plan, Glasgow Transport Plan and the Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) amongst other important strategic objectives set out in the council’s Strategic Plan. It will contain evidence based planning policy to ensure robust and well considered decision making thus supporting the Development Management function of the service and provide certainty to developers and communities about how Glasgow will be regenerated in the next 10 years and beyond.
 
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our public and private sector partners to facilitate the sustainable development of the City, achieve high quality design and placemaking, secure inward investment, grow the City Centre population and safeguard the City’s 1800+ listed buildings.
