Job Description

Glasgow City Council’s Summer Internship Programme will be available from Monday 8 June 2026 – Friday 28 August 2026, inclusive.

Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.

The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the real Living Wage.

Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12-week placement.

Applicants require to be available week commencing 23 March 2026 - Thurs 2 April 2026 for interview.

The support of an intern is required for the Making Glasgow City Region a Living Wage Place campaign. The intern will work alongside the Programme Manager and Programme Management Officer to drive forward the campaign. More specifically, the intern will develop a Living Wage Trail – a promotional tool to highlight the benefits of becoming Living Wage accredited for employers within Glasgow City and the wider City Region.

The Glasgow City Region's Economic Strategy (RES) sets out programmes which are targeted to address three missions: to build an inclusive economy, enhance productivity and support the race to net zero. The team are now working with a range of stakeholders and partners from across the City Region to take forward these programmes, of which the Economy and Health Programme is one.

The Economy and Health intern will have hands on experience of turning strategy and plans into action and will have links to the Glasgow City Region Programme Management Office, the Intelligence Hub, and the Poverty Alliance – as this is where Living Wage Scotland sits.
