Job Description

Glasgow City Council’s Summer Internship Programme will be available from Monday 8 June 2026 – Friday 28 August 2026, inclusive.

Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.

The intern will work 35 hours per week, and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage.  Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12-week placement.

Applicants require to be available week commencing 23 March 2026 - Thurs 2 April 2026 for interview.

The Council is seeking a motivated summer intern to support a key initiative aimed at improving transparency and strategic planning for community development. Over the past 20 years, numerous projects have benefited from planning developer contributions.

This internship will focus on digitising and organising these historical records into a comprehensive, accessible format.
The digitised data will form the foundation for future decision-making. By integrating this information with insights from the Play Sufficiency Assessment, the Council will be able to plan and direct the use of developer contributions more effectively, ensuring resources are allocated where they are most needed.

The intern will -
•    Review projects funded by developer contributions over the last two decades.
•    Digitise records and create a dashboard for easy access and analysis.
•    Collaborate with Council teams to align data with Play Sufficiency Assessment findings and actions of the Council’s Open Space Strategy.
•    Provide recommendations on data presentation to support future planning strategies.

This work will help the Council make informed, evidence-based decisions that enhance community facilities and play opportunities for residents.

Eligibility criteria
•    Must live within the Glasgow City Council boundary
•    Have the right to live and work in the UK
