Works Planner (Refuse)

Job Description

We’re looking for a digitally skilled, detail driven Works Planner (Data & GIS) to join our Performance & Information Management Unit (PIMU). This is a key role supporting how Glasgow plans, coordinates and delivers operational works across Roads, Parking, Enforcement and wider NRS Services. If you enjoy working with spatial data, digital tools and operational intelligence and turning them into clear, actionable plans, this role will suit you perfectly.

Working within PIMU, you’ll maintain high quality datasets, produce digital maps, configure mobile apps and support frontline teams to use GIS and digital inspection tools effectively. You’ll help plan daily and weekly work schedules, track progress, identify risks and ensure operational teams have accurate, accessible information to deliver services efficiently. You’ll collaborate with Roads engineers, Parking teams, Enforcement officers, ICT colleagues and contractors providing clear insight that strengthens decision making and improves service delivery.

You’ll bring strong analytical skills, confidence working with GIS platforms (ArcGIS or QGIS), and experience managing operational datasets or works programmes. You’ll be someone who pays close attention to detail, communicates clearly with technical and non technical audiences, and can translate complex spatial or operational information into practical guidance. You’ll also be comfortable working in a fast moving environment, adapting to changing priorities and supporting digital rollout, mobile working and continuous improvement.
