Job Purpose:
The Highland Council is ambitious, sustainable and connected. Our local authority covers the largest land mass in the UK, encompassing vibrant cities, towns and villages alongside remote and rural communities. The Highlands is consistently recognised as one of the world's top destinations and we are immensely proud of our landscapes, heritage and culture.

Our Property & Assets service plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of Council services across this diverse geography. The scale and breadth of our estate is an exciting responsibility, with the corporate landlord responsibility for operational office and depot buildings, schools, harbours, bridges and flood schemes. On top of that, responsibility for a wide ranging commercial property portfolio and delivery of major capital projects as part of the Highland Investment Plan presents a unique opportunity to drive innovation, sustainability and long-term value for our communities.

The Chief Officer Property & Assets will lead a wide-ranging and complex portfolio, including corporate property management, capital planning and estate strategy, asset rationalisation, design and construction, PPP contract management and the Harbour Estate. This critical role ensures that our assets are planned, managed and developed in a way that supports the Council's strategic priorities and enables high-quality, efficient and responsive service delivery across the Highlands.

A key aspect of the role is leading the delivery of the Highland Investment Plan and associated capital programmes in partnership with others, ensuring robust governance, effective risk management and strong financial stewardship. You will drive a strategic, commercial and sustainable approach to asset management, helping the Council to maximise best value while responding to changing service needs and financial pressures.

Please APPLY ONLINE.

The Highland Council understands that diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity and being fair and inclusive.
