Job Purpose: We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated, trained Health Visitor to join the Nairn Health Visiting team. The post is full time – 37 hours. You will work for The Highland Council with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

Evidence demonstrates the importance of prevention, early identification and intervention throughout the early years of life. Health Visitors have a significant public health role to play in relation to individuals, families and communities by providing critical support to all children under five years of age. You will identify health needs as early as possible and improve health and wellbeing by promoting health, preventing ill health and reducing inequalities.

You will visit families in their own homes and provide health advice and support to empower parents to care for their children. Your health visiting practice will be based on the Universal Health Visiting Pathway underpinned by GIRFEC and the National Practice Model.

Although your focus of health visiting will be on young children, you will have to build a solid bond with the whole family. As a caseload holder, you will have to engage with families to discover and build on their strengths. It will also be your responsibility to understand their concerns and health needs and deal with it in a safe and supportive manner.

You will be working as an autonomous practitioner with families, young children and vulnerable individuals, means you must be approachable, friendly and have excellent communication skills. There may be very difficult cases, so you need to be able to deal with stress and challenges. Time management and organisational skills are also essential.
