Job Purpose:

  • Housing Options Officers play an integral role in delivering the Highland Council’s housing and homelessness service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed housing service that strives for consistent improvement and development with a focus on excellent customer care.
  • Within this role you will work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary housing team and you will report to, and support, the area Principal Housing Officer.
  • This is a varied role with competing demands that requires a comprehensive and organised approach. Housing Options Officers provide advice and assistance to customers who require assistance with sourcing suitable housing of all types including within the private sector. They focus on preventing homelessness and support individuals and families through the homeless process when appropriate and necessary. Housing Options Officers work with individuals with diverse needs and requirements and often at times when people are going through challenging circumstances. They ensure services are delivered with a customer focus and in line with current legislation.
  • A commitment to excellent performance and customer service delivery will provide the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge and experience within the social housing sector.

Requirements

  • Chartered Institute of Housing Level 3 Qualification or the willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Experience of working within the social housing sector, or a closely related field.
  • Have access to personal transport or be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.
