Job Purpose: Pupil Support Assistant posts are allocated to schools/area teams to assist them to discharge their duty to provide appropriate educational support for pupils with special educational needs. Pupil Support Assistants can work with individual pupils to deliver an alternative curriculum where this is appropriate. The Pupil Support Assistant will assist to facilitate the integration of profoundly deaf children into the daily activities of the classroom, when appropriate using sign language to encourage participation in these activities.

Requirements
- Braille Competency Course Unified English Braille Contracted. Level 2
- Willingness to complete ongoing training: Braille Sense 6 Notetaker, advanced maths braille, production of tactile diagrams
- Familiar with specialist equipment: Embosser, Picture in a flash machine, Braille Sense 6 Notetaker, Perkins brailler, Embossing/ German film, tactile geometry kit, VI specialist science and home economics equipment, cubarithm.
- Familiar with specialist software: Duxbury, American Printing House Library, MathType, NVDA, Google Drive, Google Classroom, applications within Braille Sense 6 Notetaker.
This position is classified as a regulated role. As such, an Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required depending on your nationality and recent residency history. Specifically, this check will be necessary if you do not meet both of the following criteria:
- You must be a national of the United Kingdom or one of the following countries: Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Greece, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, or Poland.
