Job Description

Post Title: Purser/Boatmaster
Location: Corran Ferry, Fort William
Hours: 37 hours per week
Duration: Permanent
Salary: HC0337 (Purser) £41,817 - £42,972 p.a.
HC0437 (Boatmaster) £43,476 - £47,593 p.a.

Actual salary after consolidation for shift pattern is approximately £41,800 to £47,500 per year

Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

The Corran Ferry shift pattern is 5-days-on/5-days-off, 06:00 am - 10.00 pm, with 3x 1-hour breaks during the shift.  

Job Purpose:

  • The safe operation of the vessel ensuring safety of passengers, crew and protection of the environment 
  • To act as Purser/Deckhand, Engine Watcher and Relief Skipper as required by work pattern

Requirements

  • A valid Boat Master’s Licence Grade II, candidates without this will also be considered. 
  • Corran Ferry crew appointments include essential competence training and career progression, including to Skipper, for suitable persons.  
  • Must be able to carry out relief duties for engineer/skipper 
  • Be fit and capable to undertake manual work associated with the post
