Job Description

Senior Social Worker – Disabled Children and Young People
As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a pivotal leadership role within our Children and Families Service, providing support, guidance and professional oversight to a dedicated team of Social Workers and Support Workers. You will lead and develop practice that delivers positive outcomes for children and families, supporting them through complex statutory processes including child protection, looked after children services, permanence planning and alternative care arrangements – the team you lead will have a focus on working with disabled children and young people.
At the heart of our approach is The Promise and our commitment to ensuring children and young people are listened to, meaningfully involved in decisions about their lives and experience consistent, trusting relationships with those who support them. We have embedded Signs of Safety and Healing as our practice framework, enabling strengths-based, relationship-focused and collaborative work with children, families and partner agencies.
We are looking for an experienced and inspiring practitioner who combines sound professional judgement with excellent communication and leadership skills. You will be confident in providing constructive challenge, nurturing high-quality practice and building strong, collaborative relationships. Most importantly, you will share our ambition for children and young people and be committed to ensuring that their voices, experiences and aspirations shape both individual plans and the future development of our services. Knowledge, understanding and experience of supporting disabled children and young people is essential as will a knowledge of utilising Self-Directed Support (SDS) to promote choice for families.
