Job Description

Social Worker REF: HSCP/ 83231
Salary: Grade 8 £46,204 - £48,924
Location: James Watt Building
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join our Family Based Care Team (Fostering, Adoption and Kinship).
The Family Based Care Team plays a key role in ensuring that Inverclyde has a range of well-supported, trauma-informed family-based care options for all children who cannot safely remain at home.
Inverclyde HSCP is committed to delivering high-quality, relationship-based and trauma-informed practice, underpinned by the principles of The Promise. We have introduced Signs of Safety and Healing as our practice framework, supporting strengths-based, collaborative and transparent work with children, families and partner agencies. This is an exciting time to join the service as we progress a wider programme of improvement and transformation, including the development of our Intensive Family Support Service.
As a Social Worker within the Family Based Care Team, you will:
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and provide ongoing support to kinship, foster and adoptive families.
- Contribute to the recruitment, preparation and assessment of prospective foster carers and adopters.
- Apply the Signs of Safety and Signs of Healing approach to all aspects of your practice.
- Work collaboratively with children, families and partner agencies to promote safe, stable and nurturing family-based care.
- Be supported to manage a safe and balanced workload, with regular supervision and management oversight.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a fostering, adoption or kinship care service, though applications are also welcome from experienced Children and Family Social Workers.
You will find that Inverclyde is a great place to work. We’re small enough that you can make things happen quickly, and you will have plenty of opportunity to extend and diversify your experience.
If this sounds like where you’re meant to be, we would love to hear from you. For an informal discussion about these exciting opportunities and to learn more about our service and ambition for the future, contact:
