We are currently remodelling our Family Centred Care Team to ensure we have a vibrant and motivated team with a clear vision to ensure that our vulnerable children and young people experience loving and caring environments. An exciting opportunity has arisen for social workers to become part of this evolving team in Midlothian.
Our ambition is to enhance the support we offer to Midlothian Foster Carers, Adopters and Continuing Care, and in doing so improve our retention by building their skills and knowledge to safeguard and achieve positive outcomes for the children and young people in their care.
We are looking for motivated and enthused individuals who understand the importance of the Promise and where this sits in relation to developing bespoke fostering and adoption services. You will be responsible for the recruitment, assessment and retention of a range of carers as well as delivering high quality supervision and learning opportunities.

Essential:
- BA Social Work qualification or equivalent DipSW, CQSW and SSSC registration.
The job holder also needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding or experience of:
- Legal frameworks and the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities relevant to the service area;
- National and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post e.g. the Promise;
- Have knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment, child development, systemic support, relationship-based approach, motivational interviewing techniques and the impact of trauma.
Desirable:
- Post-qualifying experience working with children and families;
- Child Welfare and Protection Certificate, or demonstrate a commitment to work towards it;
- Working knowledge of Fostering and Adoption panels;
- Experience of undertaking Form F and PAR-S assessments

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £40,349.75 per annum.
