Essential:

  • BA Social Work qualification or equivalent DipSW, CQSW and SSSC registration.
  • Family Group Decision Making training or a commitment to gain this.
  • Post-qualifying experience working with children and families social work;
  • An understanding of Legal frameworks and the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities for Children and Families Social work practice;
  • An understanding of national and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post;
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment, child development, systemic support, relationship-based approach, and outcome focused approach, motivational interviewing techniques and the impact of trauma.

Hours of Work: 21.60 and 28.80 hours per week

Working Pattern: Days to be negotiated,  7 hours 12 minutes per day

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 21.60 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £24,209.85 per annum. 

Based on 28.80 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £32,279.80 per annum.
