Children and Young Peoples Practice Team (1 post)

As part of our Children and Young People’s Practice Team you will undertake a wide variety of work with children and young people from 0-26 years. Including pre-birth assessments, child protection and permanence planning. We undertake diversions from prosecution for young people and support continuing care and after care within children’s services.

Duty team (1 post)

As part of the duty team you will respond to the needs of children and their families at the earliest opportunity. Working as part of an experienced and motivated team, you will undertake initial assessments, provide advice, support, and short-term interventions. Initial assessments will be undertaken working closely with our police, health, education and third sector colleagues, with a shared goal of promoting Children & Young People’s safety and wellbeing.

KNOWLEDGE:

Essential:

  • BA Social Work qualification or equivalent DipSW, CQSW and SSSC registration.

The job holder also needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding or experience of:

  • Legal frameworks and the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities relevant to the service area;
  • National and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post e.g. the Promise;
  • Have knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment, child development, systemic support, relationship-based approach, motivational interviewing techniques and the impact of trauma.

Desirable:

  • Post-qualifying experience working with children and families;
  • Child Welfare and Protection Certificate, or demonstrate a commitment to work towards it;
