Job Description

The fundamental aim of the Active Schools Network is to provide children and young people the opportunities to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood.

Active Schools Managers and Co-ordinators are responsible for developing an infrastructure to recruit, support and sustain a network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers who in turn deliver physical activity and sport before, during and after school and in the wider community. 

Responsibilities

Build a sustainable volunteer network for Active Schools within the school and wider community.

Provide opportunities for all children to participate in physical activity and sport and enable creation of pathways from the schools to the wider community.

Increase participation amongst “hard to reach groups” by adopting a targeted approach. 

Ensure the effective integration, planning, management and delivery of Active Schools.

The Individual

Clearly demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the aims of the Active Schools Network.

Extensive experience of engaging with children and young people through sport and physical activity in education, sport, health, community, leisure and/or recreation industries.

Proven project management experience.

A Degree in a relevant discipline.

Evidence of continuing professional development.

The ability to engage with key partners and maintain positive working relationships.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Effective organisational skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and work on own initiative.

Self confidence.

Confident in using Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car / van.

Possess personal motivation, which inspires a strong commitment to working towards the concept of Active Schools.

Understanding of the importance and ability to work as an effective team member.

Highly motivated with the ability to motivate others.

Effective interpersonal skills including presentation, influencing and negotiation skills.

Ability to build trust and devolve responsibility and resources to partners/colleagues.

Clear understanding of the benefits that physical activity and sport can bring to all.

Resilient and able to deal confidently with difficult challenges.

Willingness to accept direction/delegation.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Ability to work in an open plan office.

Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements.
