Job Description

To ensure the effective administrative functioning within the school and to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures within the school.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Teacher in introducing, maintaining and reviewing administrative policies and procedures within the school.
Ensure the effective management of clerical provision within the school.
Provide appropriate financial information and administrative advice for the Head Teacher, the Senior Leadership Team and Department Heads within the school.
Assist in the maintenance and review of the Management Information System (MIS) within the school.
Manage all general clerical and administrative functions within the school.
Participate in the Council's Employee Review and Development Programme.

The Individual

  • Established experience in administrative and clerical work including supervision of staff, financial ,management systems, composing letters/reports, record keeping and filing
  • HNC, SVQ3 or other professional qualification in the relevant field or equivalent experience – this should include previous experience of supervision of staff, financial responsibilities, management systems, record keeping
  • Training in word processing, spreadsheets and databases
  • High level of accuracy in work
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to use initiative in day to day tasks
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Ability to participate as a team member
  • Appreciation and acceptance of, and commitment to the importance of confidentiality
  • Good knowledge of software packages – e.g. Microsoft Office
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a high standard of numeracy and literacy skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Understanding of and ability to demonstrate key inter-personal skills, both on the telephone and face to face
