Job Description

As Area Catering Supervisor you will work within the Catering Team supporting the all ELC, Primary and Secondary school kitchens to deliver healthy, fresh and nutritious meals.

Your will report to the Catering Manager to oversee the catering service in the schools centres within the Moray Council, the service must meet the needs of the pupils and will conform with the nutritional standards as set out by the Scottish Government within the given budget

Moray Council Catering Services operate across 52 schools in both primary and secondary schools as well as providing meals for Early Years Settings through-out the area. You could join the 300 staff we have across Moray preparing and serving meals daily to schools and nurseries, making us the largest catering operation in Moray.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary which annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.

Requirements

To assist in the management and development of the Catering Service to provide nutritious freshly prepared school meals and functions through out the schools and council buildings in Moray

To assist in the effective recruitment and retention of staff within all catering units

To assist in the delivery of Quality Standards to the customer

Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders’

Ensure all Health and Saftey procedures are in place and are monitored

Significant experience of running a large school kitchen

Ability to deal with all paperwork required to run a commercial kitchen

Supervisory experience

Experience in cost control

Experience of working with a Safe Food or HACCP system

Have an NVQ3 or equivalent qualification in cookery/dietics/nutrition

Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene

ICT literate

Effective verbal & written communication skills

Ability to co-ordinate and monitor equal standards across multi units

Aptitude for tidiness and attention to detail

Competent people management skills

Ability to plan and schedule work

Solutions focused

Ability to create imaginative and healthy menus that caters for all dietary requirement

Good leadership and motivational skills

Self-confident and self-motivated

Knowledge of customer care requirements

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van

Ability to work in different offices/locations depending on the needs of the service
