Job Description

To assist and support the work of the Strategic Planning and Development section, particularly in carrying out site survey work, analysiying data and reporting on parks, open spaces, play areas and town centres. The postholders will also assist with local development plan engagement events and provide support to colleagues and service contacts on aspects of the projects.

Responsibilities

To assist colleagues to analyse and interpret data from the Open Space Audit and assist with drafting an Open Space Strategy

Play Sufficiency Assessment- to assist colleagues to engage with communities, schools and other key stakeholders on play sufficiency. To apply an agreed methodology and co-ordinate survey of play areas both formal and informal.

Town Centre health checks- to carry out audits of town centres, identify ground floor uses, ground floor and upper floor vacancy and complete town centre healthchecks and reports.

Local Development Plan engagement events- support planning officers to host stakeholder

To analyse and collate responses to the Local Development Plan Call for Ideas/Sites

The Individual

Previous work experience in a team environment and experience of self managing workload.

Proven experience working on projects.

Proven experience using Word/Excel/email.

Educated or studying at HND/ degree level.

Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.

Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Access.

Proven ability to problem solve and self manage workload.

Ability to communicate successfully with members of the public.

Good organiser.

Report writing and analysis of data.

Willingness to learn new skills and extend knowledge.

Demonstrate critical analysis skills.

Ability to travel efficiently and effectively between various locations within Moray. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

Strong communication skills with ability to engage with colleagues, partners and the public to build productive relationships with key stakeholders.

Ability to work unsupervised.

Willingness to accept direction/delegation.

Self confidence.

Manual and physical dexterity for working outdoors.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
