Job Description
Applications are invited for the post of Depute Head Teacher Moray Adapted Curriculum Pinefield and Secondary Outreach Team. The vacancy arises as a result of additional ASN monies from Scottish Government and the retirement of the current post holder.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Depute Head Teacher to join the central Inclusion Service which has been reviewed recently. This post provides applicants with the opportunity to be part of creating a new vision for the service whilst leading MAC Pinefield and the Secondary Outreach team coordinating support services to provide assistance to schools, learners and families alike. This role will involve working directly with staff in the 8 secondary schools in Moray as well as multiagency working. The role will be based in MAC Pinefield Project and Resource Centre in Elgin, with the team being peripatetic to react to the needs of individual young people and schools. This team sits within the wider Central Inclusion Service which provides an adapted curriculum for secondary aged pupils, with close working with the Youth Justice Team, and the Moray Adapted Curriculum provision (MAC Central). This supports primary and secondary learners with a flexible and adapted curriculum personalised to individual need. The successful post holder will work very closely with staff in both these teams.
The Central Inclusion Service also includes three Flexible Learning Resource teams which support primary schools, one within MAC Central to support central Moray and two outreach teams supporting East and West Moray. In addition to this, there is a Deaf and Visual Education Team, an English as an Additional Language Team and a team of trainers providing professional learning aligned to the Moray Staged Intervention model. This is very much one service where cross team working is supported and encouraged to best serve the needs of all young people and their families.
Reporting directly to the Head Teacher of Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum this post will contribute to the strategic direction that is provided to the system to fully support all learners with a distinct focus on supporting secondary learners to fulfil their potential and reach positive destinations. The successful postholder will also work closely with the Principal Educational Psychologist, Virtual HT Care Experienced Children and Young People, as well as the Quality Improvement Officer who has a lead role for Additional Support Needs. There will be a high level of multiagency working involved in this post. Prospective candidates who wish further information regarding this Depute Head Teacher role are invited to contact Claire Johnson, Head Teacher Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum on Claire.johnson@moray.gov.ukRequirements
