Job Description
As a team member of the Economy & Enterprise section which includes Business Gateway and Employability, maximise external funding and income generation opportunities and provide business / project support both within Council services, and in partnership with external agencies.
Responsibilities
To maximise funding for projects and services in Moray by developing, supporting, preparing and/or submitting applications to funders and progress income generation opportunities
To advise and provide information and support for business development projects, partnerships and initiatives, including liaison with the Employability Team
To advise and provide information on funding and business development including delivery of start-up advice for Business Gateway
Liaise with other relevant departments and organisations including SLAED, HIREP sub groups and the Moray Economic Partnership
The Individual
Knowledge and experience of operating in economic development
Experience of working with public, community and businesses
Project development skills
Knowledge and experience of procurement
Knowledge and understanding of project management
Experience of investigating and securing external match-funding and meeting governance requirements
Competent knowledge of Microsoft packages Word and Excel
Educated to Degree level or have equivalent work experience
Good communication skills both written and oral
Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
Confidence and ability to work with a minimum of supervision
Effective time management skills
Team worker
Knowledge and / or understanding of the business and community sectors
Project development and management skills including finance
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray and on occasion throughout Scotland to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van
Be able to communicate with people from all walks of life
Where appropriate be able to respect confidentiality of information entrusted
Open plan office / mobile working including occasional evening / weekend work
