Job Description
Provide a lead role in Reader development, outreach and engagement activity
Works across different disciplines to support delivery of high quality library services across Moray, working with local communities, partners and other Council services
Responsibilities
Lead on development of activity and services that align with the Libraries Team Plan, Council Priorities and the Local Outcome Improvement Plan
Motivate, train and develop staff in respect of development activity & services
Develop reader development collections, services, and programmes both online and in person. Develop partnerships with third sector providers for delivery of programmes and activities
Assist in the appropriate selection, co-ordination, organisation, care and management of stock and information materials
Lead on the planning, promotion and marketing of reader development programmes and outreach activities.
Ensure efficient and effective administrative and financial procedures within areas of responsibility
The Individual
- Public Library Experience
- Qualified librarian or substantial experience in a library setting
- Ability to motivate others, often taking a lead role for specific elements of a project
- Knowledge of staff development & supervision
- Strong report writing skills able to analyse and use management information to help inform and produce a coherent evidence based document
- Able to manage a diverse workload and prioritise whilst keeping to deadlines
- Demonstrable experience of using a range of ICT applications applicable to libraries e.g. social media; online learning platforms
- Evidence of a customer focused approach
- Track record of ability to take effective decisions with clearly defined outcomes
- Experience of reader development services
- Experience of organising events and outreach programmes
- Experience of ICT applications
- Knowledge of lifelong learning initiatives
