Job Description

To assist the ICT Team Leaders to ensure that the ICT service meets the needs of the Council and is delivered as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Requirements

The following list represents a comprehensive list of tasks appropriate to ICT Officer posts at this level. Certain tasks are generic in nature and will be performed by most, if not all, of the ICT Officers. Other tasks are more specialised and will only pertain to specific individuals.

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of ICT systems.
  2. Assist with service delivery in relation to Infrastructure, Operation and User Support.
  3. Assist, where appropriate, in strategy and planning initiatives with regard to the specified function of the service area.
  4. Assist, where appropriate, in management and administration with regard to ICT contracts, projects and resources.
  5. Adopt and promote council policies.
  6. Any other duties.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and customer focused individuals to join the ICT Infrastructure Team. The team provides ICT support to all service departments across the Council. In total, the team supports just over 90 remote sites; this includes the Council’s 8 secondary schools and 45 primary schools.

 

You will ideally hold an HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and will have significant experience of working in a multi-site environment. You will also have good knowledge and experience of supporting a wide range of hardware and software, preferably in a local government environment.

 

Knowledge in the following areas would be a distinct advantage.

 

  • Desktop PC’s, Laptops and Thin Clients
  • Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 2016 / 365
  • Imaging PCs\Laptops\VDI
  • Assisting with upgrades and testing of patches, updates, and new software
  • Troubleshooting and research of technical issues
  • Applications running on PC’s, Laptops, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop
  • Knowledge of Local Government applications
  • Active Directory user account management
  • Mailbox management and support
  • Administration and support of Telephone Systems
  • Networking Infrastructure and troubleshooting
