Placement Support Worker (Fostering & Adoption & Kinship Care)

Job Description

Supporting young people who are looked after and accommodated, in accordance with legislative requirements.

Support to kinship carers of looked after children.

Responsibilities

Supporting young people with their preparation for independence (Throughcare and Aftercare).

Supporting the Kinship carers of young people.

Maintenance, development and planning of the service.

Training and networking.

Administration.

The Individual

Experience of working with young people.

SVQ Level III and/or HNC relating to Child Care or Social Care.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work as a team member.

Patient & caring nature.

Ability to remain calm and consistent when under pressure.

Ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of service providers.

Confident, motivated and ability to remain task focused.

A working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Excel.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service.  Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

Ability to work within the bounds of confidentiality.

Effective listening skills.

Effective negotiating abilities, tact and sensitivity

Flexibility.

Willingness to learn.

Able to undertake manual tasks and work in a flexible manner.

Ability to work in an open plan office

Ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends as required to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements.

Starting salary: £30,405.05

36.25 hours per week

£16.13 per hour
