Senior ICT Officer (Permanent)

Grade 8/9 (£38,699.05 - £49,273.90)

 

We are currently looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and customer focused team player to join the ICT Infrastructure Team. The team is responsible for managing the ICT infrastructure (server, network, and desktop), the provision of the ICT Servicedesk function to all departments across the Council, as well as enterprise security and compliance. In total, the team supports around 90 remote sites; this includes the Council’s 8 secondary schools and 45 primary schools.

 

This post will be part of the ICT Server & Network Team and will be primarily focused on the server infrastructure. You will ideally hold an HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an ICT related subject, and will have significant experience of working in a large multi-site environment. Proven experience supporting Microsoft Server technologies, enterprise storage solutions and a VMware virtual estate, preferably in a local government environment, is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge in the following areas would also be a distinct advantage.

 

  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft Entra 365
  • Citrix XenApp\XenDesktop
  • Linux
  • Backup Software - Arcserve
  • TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS

Requirements

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of ICT systems.
  2. Assist with service delivery in relation to Infrastructure, Operation and User Support.
  3. Assist, where appropriate, in strategy and planning initiatives with regard to the specified function of the service area.
  4. Assist, where appropriate, in management and administration with regard to ICT contracts, projects and resources.
  5. Adopt and promote council policies.
  6. Any other duties.

Responsibilities

To assist the ICT Team Leaders to ensure that the ICT service meets the needs of the Council and is delivered as effectively and efficiently as possible.

The Individual

  • Significant experience in an ICT environment
  • * HNC/HND in a relevant subject
  • Ability to plan, schedule and monitor work to meet time and quality targets

  • Analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to select appropriately from available standards, tools, methods and applications.

  • Ability to absorb new technical information rapidly and apply it effectively

  • Good appreciation of wider role of ICT and how it fits into the business of the client

  • Awareness of developing technologies and their application
  • Ability to communicate fluently orally and in writing and to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to transport items of computer equipment in line with health and safety requirements.
