Job Description

To work with the Corporate Parenting Service Manager and social worker colleagues responsible for Throughcare/Aftercare, to ensure the highest quality and value for money is achieved through the provision of care settings to children & young people who are, or have been cared for out with the care of their parents.

To provide effective line management of social work staff and their professional practice.

To ensure that the needs of individual children, young people, and care providers are met effectively.

To assist in the continuous improvements– with responsibility for Throughcare-Aftercare Participate in the development of overall service delivery and improvement

 

Responsibilities

To be responsible for the line management of a number of child care staff employed within Moray Council in relation to Throughcare-Aftercare Services.

Ensure effective service delivery for each area of lead responsibility.

Manage available resources in liaison with the Corporate Parenting Service Manager.

In consultation with the Corporate Parenting Service Manager play a defined role in the development, monitoring and evaluation of services, including co-ordination and collaboration with other agencies particularly at a local level.

To communicate with the Home Office and COSLA respectively regarding Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (New Scots).

 

The Individual

¨Significant experience in Children and Families and in family placement sections of statutory social work. ¨

Understanding the issues that apply for children and young people who are, or have been, Looked After and Accommodated. ¨

Knowledge and experience of working with the legislation relevant to the post. ¨

C.Q.S.W./Dip. Social Work. ¨

SSSC Registered. ¨

Evidence the experience, knowledge, skills and understanding of the differing aspects and needs of each of these service areas. ¨

The ability to engage with service users in direct service delivery. ¨

The ability to manage the competing demands and deliver an effective workload management system. ¨

The ability to engage with service users in direct service delivery. ¨

The ability to engage with self evaluation in each of these service areas. ¨ You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car. ¨ Ability to effectively manage change and conflict. ¨

Strong leadership and supportive approach to team members and service users. ¨

Efficient and effective communication skills. ¨

An ability work as part of a management team delivering services within resources available.

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
