Job Description

As a senior social worker you will be required to work in accordance with the relevant legal and contemporary policy frameworks including The Promise and National Frameworks for the support and protection of children.

To provide effective management and supervision of staff and their professional practice.

You will be responsible for identifying, analysing and managing care and protection risks for under supported children and adults with a trauma informed approach.

 

Responsibilities

To partner with individuals, children, young people and their families to promote their well-being, care and protection needs.

To further promote the wellbeing of individuals, children, young people and their families overseeing plans and assessments of need and risk and working with other agencies, organisations and individuals.

In consultation with the Team Manager and others, play a defined role in the development, monitoring and evaluation of services, including co-ordination and collaboration with other agencies particularly at a local level.

The Individual

Significant experience in Children and Families and statutory social work.

Experience of working with children and young people who need a plan for their protection.

Understanding the issues that apply for children and young people who are, or have been, Looked After and Accommodated in any care setting.

Depth of knowledge about the issues and challenges faced by children and young people and their families in Scotland.

Understanding of the duties that apply for children and young people who are, or have been, Looked After and Accommodated in any care setting.

Knowledge and experience of working with the legislation and key government guidance, relevant to the post.

Good working knowledge of The Scottish Government’s Independent Care Review; The Promise.

C.Q.S.W./Dip. Or BA or equivalent in Social Work.

SSSC Registered.

Evidence experience, knowledge, skills and understanding of the differing aspects and needs of displaced people, children and young people and their families.

The ability to engage with service users in direct service delivery.

The ability to manage the competing demands and deliver an effective workload management system.

Commitment to delivering the principles of The Promise and Health and Social Care standards.

Capacity to manage change and work creatively.

An expansive professional outlook which contributes to transformational change.

The ability to engage with people in the direct delivery of services and ensure and equitable and fair service is provided.

Effective communication skills, presentation and negotiation skills.

Ability to work in different offices with different teams dependent on service/ health and safety requirements.
