Job Description

To support women involved with the Justice Service by addressing the issues which contribute to their offending through relational and practical means, i.e. housing, health, employment, education, benefits.  Offer emotional and motivational support to remain or reintegrate into their local community and engage with partner agencies.

The Women’s worker will also be an integral part of the Caledonian System which aims to support women who are the victims of domestically abusive behaviour, through offering safety planning and advice in conjunction with other support services.  There will also be a need to support other individuals within the Justice service when the service requires this.

It is an occupational requirement that applications are open to women only, as permitted under schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

Responsibilities

Assist people in the wider community in conjunction with identified partner agencies, in particular Women who have contact with the Justice Service.

To work with Social Workers and other members of the team to ensure relevant sections of Case Management/Action plans are followed and implemented.

Develop people’s skills in budgeting and maintaining a healthy, positive lifestyle.

Support, develop and sustain appropriate social, education, employment or social opportunities to contribute to and meet identified needs in conjunction with others as appropriate.

Contribute to people’s sense of worth, well-being, sense of security/safety and ability to take responsibility for themselves.

Work collaboratively with other workers and agencies.

Assist in the development, set up and delivery of Group Work.

The Individual

Experience of working with adults and young people who require support to enable them to live healthy lifestyles.

Experience of working with women who have experienced domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

Experience of multi-agency working, in particular in a domestic abuse or child/adult protection setting.

Educated to standard grade or equivalent in English.

HNC Social Care.

A willingness to undertake training.

Able to communicate well verbally and in writing at times.

An ability to work alone without close supervision.

Ability to develop positive interagency working.

Awareness and ability to work in accordance with GDPR.

Organisational and time management skills.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car.

Good IT skills, specifically Microsoft Word/Outlook.

Capacity to establish productive working relationships with families and professional staff.

Calm, patient and non-judgemental attitude.

The capacity to de-escalate stressful situations.

Capacity to deal with other professionals.

Flexible working hours to meet the needs and demands of the service.
