Job Description

To contribute towards the delivery of a high quality housing service within Moray.

To manage the provision of Temporary Accommodation to homeless people.

To provide support and supervision to the Supported Accommodation Officer, Hostel Staff and Estate Caretakers to ensure that they deliver the key objectives of the Housing Service.

To provide support to the Service Manager (Housing Needs) when required.

 

Requirements

Provide management and supervisory support to the Housing Support Workers, Hostel Caretakers, and Estate Caretakers involved in the provision of Temporary Accommodation.

To effectively manage the Supported Accommodation Officers ensuring that appropriate staff cover is always available at hostel accommodation to cover shifts. To oversee completion of staff rotas/shift patterns and manage staff absences in line with Policy.

To have day to day management responsibility for Homeless Temporary Accommodation. This will include: arranging and monitoring of the use of temporary accommodation, collection of rents, collection and reducing rent arrears, information recording systems, monitoring the charges for Temporary Accommodation and dealing with the management of residents in Temporary Accommodation and Sheltered Housing.

To assist the Service Manager Housing Needs in terms of the budgets relating to Temporary Accommodation and ensuring that any concerns are raised with the Service Manager Housing Needs timeously.

To liaise with Housing Needs Officers, Supporting People Staff, Housing Management staff, Social Work and Housing Benefit staff. The post will also require liason with external organisations including the NHS, Community Care services, Care Commission, Support providers, etc to ensure the service requirements of providing Temporary Accommodation are achieved. • To participate in the continuous service review of temporary Accommodation and work towards improvement of Service Provision.

The Individual

• Experience of working in a Housing Needs Team or Housing Environment .

• Knowledge of Housing Practice and Legislation.

• Knowledge of good practice guidance and code of guidance on Homelessness legislation.

• Experience of managing and supervising staff.

• HNC/HND in a relevant Housing or care related discipline would be desirable.

• Knowledge of :

• Homeless Legislation.

• Scottish Government Guidance

• Care Commission.

• Flexibility, friendly and approachable attitude.

• Ability to work under pressure. Ability to analyse complex housing problems and propose relevant solutions.
