We are seeking a qualified social worker to be part of a developing Service who enables our young people to have the best possible start to Adulthood. North Ayrshire HSCP have been developing a Brighter Pathways Programme in order to consider how best to serve our infants, children, young people and families. This Programme includes the development of a new Supported Accommodation Service in Irvine. Your team would have a close connection to supporting this Service development due to the connection for some young people. As part of the Throughcare, Aftercare and Unaccompanied Children's team you would have a crucial role in contributing to a relationship and rights based approach in assessment and (brighter) Pathways planning. You would be working alongside young people with experience, as well as working with other teams across the HSCP, and other agencies to ensure young people are safe from harm and have access to all available support and offers of assistance. This may also include support when our young people become parents and therefore we are not only (corporate) parents, but grandparents too, Scotland made a commitment in 2020 to change. The Promise based on listening to those with experience offered an articulation of what this change would require. Aftercare was one such area of focus.
As well as having knowledge of statutory frameworks, contextual safeguarding and protection approaches, we are looking for an individual who brings energy, adaptability and light. There are times we all need someone to shine a light so we can see the door or the path in front of us. If you can be a lighthouse for young people moving on up towards Adulthood we would love to hear from you For an informal discussion prior to application please contact Hugh McDonald, Team Manager hughmacdonald@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or Louise Henry, Senior Manager louisehenry@north-ayrshire.gov.uk to arrange a conversation.
