An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Council’s busy Conveyancing and Contracts team for a Solicitor post on a part time basis for a temporary period of one year. The role will have an emphasis on Community Asset Transfers, providing legal advice to the Communities Team on new Community Asset Transfer applications and ongoing Community Asset Transfers currently going through the process from application to completion including the necessary conveyancing required as a result. The role will typically involve checking the Council has good title to the asset concerned and that there are no title or other restrictions that would restrict a lease or sale of the asset. The role would also involve checking an applicant is properly constituted in terms of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 and therefore eligible to apply for a CAT transfer. Until the CAT approval is obtained and the necessary conveyancing is completed, the role will also involve liaising with the CAT team and other services within the Council on an ongoing basis to ensure the application follows the correct process. The role will also involve attending regular multi-service CAT monitoring meetings. The successful applicant will be keen and enthusiastic to join the Conveyancing and Contracts team where the work is varied and interesting. The successful applicant will also be expected to provide comprehensive legal support to the Community Asset Transfer process.
