We are looking to recruit a Building Standards Technician to join our team. We are the 4th largest Local Authority in Scotland and we strive to deliver a highly responsive service for our residents and customers. Our ambitious plans provide a roadmap for, amongst other things, the regeneration of our communities and the maintenance of our built environment.

North Lanarkshire Council is considered, by Scottish Government, as a strong performing Building Standards Verifying Authority. In recognition, our Service received the maximum Verification appointment period of 6 years.

You will be part of the Building Standards team, based in the Civic Centre, Motherwell, dealing with a broad range of Building Standards functions. Primarily, you will assist with the delivery of high-quality technical support for the Built Environment Teams with a focus on Building Standards. Your good communication skills and proactive, customer-focussed approach will ensure you provide an excellent service to architects, developers and other customers.

You should have moderate experience in the delivery of technical and administrative support, preferably in a Planning or Building Standards environment with experience of using GIS systems and document management systems.

Educated to SVQ3/HNC level or equivalent qualification and experience in registration and processing of building warrant applications is desirable.

Adopting a Hybrid work style, in line with Council Policy, you will work from home and our office base, Civic Centre, Motherwell.

A current driving licence is desirable.
