North Lanarkshire Council and NHS Lanarkshire are ambitious organisations which aspire to high performance and excellent care and experience.

Working in close partnership with North Lanarkshire Council and NHS Lanarkshire, the Health and Social Care Partnership is focused on the successful integration of community-based health and social care services. This is critical to our shared ambition, to enhance the quality of our Health and Social Care services and ensure that our most vulnerable residents lead healthier, safer and more independent lives.

Working between North Lanarkshire Civic Centre and NHS Lanarkshire's Kirkland's Hospital, the Chief Officer, Health and Social Care Partnership, is a critical role within the leadership team responsible for leading and driving the transformation agenda.

The primary focus of the North Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership will be the continued integration and improvement of joint services, identifying where further integration would deliver better outcomes for the public, our joint service users and their carers and developing effective plans to tackle the growing causes of health inequality across North Lanarkshire.

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional leader with vision, drive and passion as well as a broad range of strategic and professional skills.

The Chief Officer is responsible to both the Council and the Health Board for the full integration and delivery of all services which are delegated to the partnership. These include the full range of community-based health services and the social care of adults with a focus on delivering person centred, effective, safe, quality care in a timely way.

This post is politically restricted in compliance with the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 and the holder will be expected to comply with the Chief Officers’ Code of Conduct, demonstrating the ethical standards expected of officials in public service. The Council’s conditions of service for Chief Officer posts are those for the Scottish Joint Negotiating Committee for Chief Officials in Scotland, as varied in terms of any Local agreement(s) in force from time to time.

Reflecting the joint nature of this appointment, the successful candidate will have the option of being appointed on the terms and conditions of either NHS or Local Authority which will include the relevant hours and salary.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment.

For an informal discussion, contact Des Murray, Chief Executive at North Lanarkshire Council via Adrienne Henry on Email: HenryAd@northlan.gov.uk or telephone : 07939284602 or alternatively Professor Jann Gardner, Chief Executive, NHS Lanarkshire via Allison McLean at allison.mclean@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk.
