You will be responsible for the co-ordination, strategic planning and monitoring of child protection work on behalf of North Lanarkshire Child Protection Committee and its partners in the wider community, working closely with the Child Protection Committee Independent Chair.

Located in the Public Protection Team and working across North Lanarkshire, you will provide professional support to North Lanarkshire Child Protection Committee to ensure the effective operation of its remit in the strategic planning, monitoring and development of child protection systems and practice in the North Lanarkshire area. You will also lead the development and implementation of a framework of policies, plans, and procedures for child protection across North Lanarkshire and produce written reports for the Independent Chair, the Child Protection Committee and the Chief Officers Public Protection Group, Scottish Government and other bodies as required.

You will ensure robust collaboration between key strategic groups across children’s services and beyond, such as Child, Adult Protection Committees, Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), Violence Against Women Working Group, the Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) and other public protection fora. You will lead on raising public awareness of child protection, including the development of an information strategy, production of relevant publicity materials and speaking at professional and community events.

A qualification in a relevant discipline, for example, Social Work, Education, Health or other professional qualification together with substantial experience within a relevant discipline, including Social Work, Education or Health, is essential. Experience of Child Protection work in a relevant service, discipline is essential. Multi agency collaboration with reference to Child Protection is also essential. A postgraduate or management qualification is desirable.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role.

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
