You will be reporting to the Airfield Superintendent.

Your working pattern is variable. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate airfield operational services and all aspects locally of organisation and delivery of the service provision on the island of Eday under the direction of the Airfield Superintendent.

Specific duties include organising crew turnout and time keeping, rescue and fire fighting services while receiving and dispatching flights, recording of aircraft movements and ensuring the completion of associated paperwork. The service includes baggage handling, preparing and operating the fire tender, maintaining apron control, operating the phone/radio transmitter, inspecting runways and airfield in general. In an emergency you will provide rescue and fire fighting and first aid services as required.

Due to the frequency of air service and additional duties required at Eday Airfield, the annualised hours contract will be for 260 hours per annum initially but is likely to increase once the service is enhanced with the introduction of a third aircraft. Additional hours may be required for training etc which will be paid separately.

A condition of this post is that you will be resident in Eday as you will be required to respond at short notice and during evening/weekends.

The necessary qualification, experience and skills required for this role are detailed in the 'must have' section of the attached job profile. These criteria are used for decisions on shortlisting and appointment of applicants.
