You will be reporting to Service Manager (Transportation).

Your working pattern is Monday - Friday. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

The purpose of this role is to manage the day to day operation of the Council’s six North Isles airfields, ensuring compliance with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), National Air Traffic Service (NATS) and relevant legislation requirements.

The Airfield Superintendent shall ensure the airfields meet CAA category 1 licencing requirements, ensure a safe and efficient operational environment including responsibility of safety management, risk assessments and the roll out of fire training of Airfield Co-ordinators and Attendants.

You are also required to have sufficient relevant experience to be assessed by the CAA and NATS as competent in terms of CAP 700-Operational Safety Competences; A UK Code of Practice and of CAP 699, Standards for the Competence of Rescue and Firefighting Services (RFFS) Personnel Employed at United Kingdom Licensed Aerodromes.

You are required to hold a relevant qualification to at least SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) enabling entry to CAA/NATS training programmes.

You will be expected to hold or achieve within 12 months of taking up post, the Workplace Assessor Qualification.

You will be expected to hold or achieve within 6 months of taking up post the Certificate of Competence as a Low Category Supervisor (firefighting and incident command).

You should hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
