An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Orkney Health and Social Care Partnership’s work in regard to unpaid carers, with responsibility for developing and implementing the Partnership’s Carer Strategy.
Unpaid carers provide care and support to family members, friends and neighbours who need help because of illness, disability, frailty, mental health issues, or addiction, undertaking a huge range of tasks, from personal care through to emotional support.
You will be at the forefront of work to promote the role of carers, engaging with statutory and third sector partners, as well as driving a culture of change, ensuring the entire community is aware of the support available to Orkney’s estimated 3000 unpaid carers.
This is a brand-new, high-profile role, and is the cornerstone of the partnership’s commitment to ensure that carers in Orkney feel valued and supported.
With a working knowledge of the Carers Act (Scotland) 2016, you will be a confident individual with experience of developing policy and strategy, as well as presenting reports to senior colleagues.
You should hold a qualification at SCQF 8/9 i.e. SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship, Technical Apprenticeship in a relevant subject area, or have a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience. You should also have the ability to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
