You will be reporting to the Head Teacher.

Your working pattern will consist of three days, split across Hope and Burray Primary schools; however, the working days and working pattern are negotiable. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

The purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with a team across the schools to lead and develop provision for children with Additional Support Needs. The role will involve direct learning and teaching responsibilities, as well as supporting the planning and delivery of inclusive learning experiences. Within the classroom, you will provide significant and creative adaptations to the curriculum and learning environment to meet a range of additional support needs. You will also work closely with Support for Learning Assistants, providing leadership and guidance to ensure that teaching approaches, resources and learning experiences are appropriately adapted to support learners in accessing and engaging with the curriculum.

This post presents an exciting opportunity to support inclusive practice across the two schools. We require an enthusiastic and independent person who would enjoy being part of an inclusive, whole-school team. The learning environment that you provide will include play-based and multi-sensory approaches. A child-centred approach is used to meet the individual needs of the pupils. Some of our learning experiences for children will take place outwith the school environment in the wider community. Supporting close partnerships, working with parents/carers and other key partners is essential to this role.

Salary will be based the Main Grade Teacher SNCT Salary Table plus Distant Islands Allowance.

The necessary qualification, experience and skills required for this role are detailed in the ‘must have’ section of the attached job profile. These criteria are used for decisions on shortlisting and appointment of applicants.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
