An opportunity has arisen within the Customer Services Team for a part-time permanent Customer Services Adviser. This post is based at the Warehouse Buildings in Stromness. Hours will be worked on a 2 weekly rota with week 1 being from 9am to 5pm on a Friday and 10.30am to 4pm on a Saturday and week 2 being from 9am to 5pm on a Thursday and Friday. We will consider applications for part-time hours.
As a first point of contact, you will be dealing with enquiries from the public over the phone, face to face at our reception desk, by email and online. You will be required to accurately process a variety of requests on behalf of various council services. Other duties will include the discharge of library materials, the processing of reservations, dealing with hostel and campsite bookings, the collection and reconciliation of income paid to the council and dealing with blue badge applications.
You will also be required to create and maintain customer records, assist with the testing of digital forms and update web content on the council website.
The post holder should have a relevant educational qualification at SCQF level 5 (e.g. SVQ 2) in business administration or customer service or where the essential qualification is not held, a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a customer focused administrative role is required.
You should have wide experience in the use of computerised systems including Microsoft Office packages.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
This post is subject to level 1 Disclosure Scotland clearance.
