You will be reporting to Service Manager – Primary Education.
Your working pattern is Monday to Friday. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.
The purpose of this role is to promote high quality learning and teaching to secure improved educational outcomes for the benefit of pupils and the community, and contributing to an agenda of ongoing improvement in your school and across the Council area.
St Andrew’s Primary School is situated in Toab in Orkney. The school serves the parishes of Holm, Deerness, Toab and Tankerness. There are currently 161 children attending the school across seven classes. The Early Learning and Childcare setting at the school is managed by a separate manager and not the Head teacher.
We are looking for an experienced and skilled senior leader who places outcomes for children at the heart of what they do. They will be experienced in all aspects of strategic leadership and will be confident in prioritising and developing school improvements. Experience of ensuring consistent high-quality learning and teaching is essential. The successful candidate will also contribute to the strategic leadership and improvement of the wider local education service. They will hold the Standard for Headship or, where this is not held, achieve this qualification within 30 months of
appointment. (Please note, where the Standard for Headship is not held, appointment to the post can only be on a temporary basis for a period of up to 30 months)

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
