Marketing Officer

17.5 hours per week

£31,776 - £34,331 pro rata / £17.41 - £18.81 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

The Institute for Northern Studies is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above post to promote the activities of the Institute; to oversee and play a key role in delivering marketing and student recruitment campaigns, and to play a key role in communicating the Institute’s marketing message.

The postholder will lead in the delivery of promotional, marketing and student recruitment campaigns; prepare promotional materials for various media and liaise with external suppliers and printers; write and coordinate advertising and prepare media releases for the press and other media and maintain, update, develop and monitor the Institute’s website and social media and maintain an archive of press, broadcasting and social media relating to the Institute.

The potholder will also organise attendance at relevant conferences etc and undertake relevant market research into the Institute’s markets; Organise marketing to prospective students, and open days for prospective students, liaise with the UHI Marketing Department and OIC Communications Officer as required and have delegated responsibility at times for liaising with clients, other professionals, local authority, press, and the public and carry out administrative duties in accordance with UHI Orkney’s quality standards.

Applicants must be educated to degree level in a subject relevant to the post. Applicants should also have experience of marketing/ sales and promotion, an understanding of higher education, heritage, and tourism sectors, experience of giving written and verbal reports and briefings, proven skills in social media management and website maintenance, be PC literate in all MS packages, and have the ability to manage multiple priorities, plan ahead and respond to tight deadlines.

This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
