Orkney has a rich heritage with 5000 years of innovation. As Project Manager for the Orkney World Heritage Site Gateway Project, you will have the opportunity to lead on the finalisation of the Project’s Full Business Case and on the delivery of this exciting and transformative project.
This project (circa £12M) is one of a number contained within the Islands Growth Deal, a programme that is supported through the UK and Scottish Government. It is led by Orkney Islands Council in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
You should be proactive and committed to sustainable development and the transition to net zero and able to work collaboratively with the community and wider stakeholders.
Your expertise in project management working with design teams and consultants will be key along with experience in sectors such as tourism, transport, cultural heritage and environment, all of which will be of huge value in helping finalise the business case and the delivery of the project.
With a proactive approach and ability to facilitate discussions you will work with partners across the Council as well as across the Orkney Community Partnership and colleagues working in our universities, businesses, third and voluntary sectors.
You will have a main office based in Kirkwall, Orkney with flexible work arrangements available and should be able to travel between various work locations within Orkney and further afield to meet the operational requirements of the service and delivery of the project.
Applicants should hold a qualification at SCQF level 8/9 (i.e., SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship, Technical Apprenticeship) in a relevant subject, or have a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience.
