Public Lighting Operative

£27,157 - £27,794 / £14.08 - £14.41 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

We are looking for a Public Lighting Operative to work on the installation and maintenance of the Council’s street lighting network.

This post also carries out additional duties including the inspection and testing of emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, the testing of portable appliance (PAT) and other general electrical duties associated with building construction and maintenance.

You will be required to work either individually or as part of a team to ensure the efficient operation of the service. You must have a positive approach to health and safety and will require a flexible attitude to work.

There is a requirement to participate in a call out rota for which appropriate overtime and standby payments will be made.

The successful candidate should have electrical industry knowledge and experience and hold SVQ Level 3 – Installing Highway Electrical Systems or equivalent. You should also hold a 17th and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Certificate and a Certificate in Electrical Council ERG39.

Training will be given for specialist operations where required.

A full and current C1 driving licence is also essential.
