Relief Care at Home Assistant

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£15.08 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate

Orkney Islands Council’s Care at Home Service is part of the fabric of our community. Our teams of skilled Care at Home Assistants make a world of difference to the individuals who use the service by providing high quality care and support that enables individuals to remain in their own homes and communities. Whether we are providing one shower visit a week or four visits daily to assist with personal care, medication or meal preparation, our Care at Home staff are making a huge difference to the lives of the people supported by the Service.

If you are a caring, compassionate, and reliable person who is interested in supporting individuals in your own local community and who wants to make a difference to the lives of people within your community, then the role of a Care at Home Assistant could be the job for you. We are looking for people who share our values, our commitment and dedication to providing a high-quality care at home service in line with the Health and Social Care standards. We are looking for individuals who can work on their own as well as working part of a team and are able to use their own initiative.

This is an extremely rewarding role and we are looking for like minded people to join the team. You should preferably hold a qualification of an SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or other qualification accepted by the SSSC OR have a minimum of 2 years previous experience as detailed within the experience section of the attached Person Specification. You are required to hold registration or be registered with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment.

The post is subject to Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.

Holding a full current UK driving licence is desirable.

Successful applicants will be provided with a robust Induction training programme on commencement in post.
